When Overboard hit theaters in 1987, it was met with mixed reception. However, through the power of repeat airings via cable television, the Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell romantic comedy gained a cult following. A remake of the original Garry Marshall-directed film arrives in theaters later this year.
The re-imagining features a gender swap of the leading roles. Leonardo (Eugenio Derbez), a selfishly rich playboy, falls off his yacht and wakes up to find himself in the hospital with amnesia. Seeking retribution for all the times Leonardo treated her poorly, one of his employees, Kate (Anna Faris), decides to retrieve him from the hospital and convince him he’s her husband. As a single mother to three daughters and struggling to make ends meet, Kate could use a little help around the house. Eva Longoria and Swoosie Kurtz also star.
Overboard sails into theaters on April 20, 2018. Check out the new trailer below.
