First Listen: Idol’s Allison Iraheta’s First Single

Watch out Adam Lambert & Kris Allen! Allison’s here and looking to become the winner where it counts- ALBUM SALES. Today, Iraheta released her first single on radio stations across the country. The Max Martin produced track, “Friday, I’ll Be Over You” is the perfect single to launch Iraheta’s post-idol career. The infectious track is “poppy” without being bubble-gum. Given her age, I was half worried, 19 Entertainment would wash her down and market her liker her teenage contemporaries, Selena Gomez and/or Demi Lovato. Instead, they’ve let her rock-n-roll talents shine. The track is bit remiscient of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” which makes sense since Max Martin produced both tracks. Seems to me, Max Martin is on a bit of a hot streak lately.

Allison shines in this sassy, screw you attitude filled song. I’m a little embarrassed to admit how many times I’ve listened to it today. Let’s just say it’s A LOT. The teenager will be releasing her album under Jive Records tentatively on December 1, 2009.

Through her time on Idol, the pseudo red head won me over with her “Alone”, “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” and duet performance of “Slow Ride” with eventual runner-up, Adam Lambert. Though the season was lackluster in show stopping performances when compared to seasons past, I have a feeling Lambert, Allen and Iraheta will all have successful post-Idol careers that could rival previous season’s alumni. Don’t take my word for it, check out her single below and formulate your own opinion(s).
