When I heard Alicia Keys partnered with neo soul singer Maxwell for a duet on her upcoming Girl on Fire album, I hoped it wouldn’t be an epic fail. Just because two talented soulful singers decide to collaborate doesn’t necessarily mean magic will occur. Thankfully, these two didn’t disappoint. “Fire We Make” is exactly the track I envisioned from the duo. It’s classic R&B at it’s finest form. Her deep bedroom voice mixed with his smooth tone make for the perfect soundtrack for any steamy love-making session. Keys produced the track in collaboration with songwriting duo Pop & Oak.

Ever since Maxwell released his debut album Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite back in 1996, I’ve been a huge fan. The 39-year-old singer can raise the temperature like no other with his silky voice and breathy falsetto. Watching this man perform live is an experience like no other. Believe it or not, this is Maxwell’s first duet ever. I’m glad he decided to pop his duet cherry with Keys. If the rest of Keys’ Girl on Fire album is on the same caliber as this, consider me sold.
