FOX Taps Sense8 Actor To Anchor Urban Cowboy TV Adaptation

FOX has found its John Travolta to front their Urban Cowboy television adaptation. Mexican actor Alfonso Herrera will star in the network drama’s pilot based on the classic 1980 flick. Deadline reports his character is a popular rodeo circuit rider and drug cartel mule who is forced to flee Mexico.

As the previously released show logline stated, the reimagining follows Kyle (Herrera) and Gaby as two star-crossed young lovers who pursue their dreams and passions through the sweat of line-dancing in honky-tonks, the grime of the oil refineries and the glamor of modern Texas. It’s about family legacies, starting over, finding true love and the American dream.

Herrera was once a member of a Mexican pop group RBD and appeared in a couple of telenovelas. However, his biggest break stateside came in the recently-renewed Netflix drama Sense8. He was Hernando, the secret lover of sensate, actor Lito Rodriguez played by Miguel Ángel Silvestre. If you need a refresher of their steamy scenes, check out a montage below of their sexiest moments.
