Damn you, Idol producers!!! Yesterday on Ellen Degeneres’ show, ousted semi-finalist, Alex Lambert, sat down and chatted with Idol’s newest judge. During his chat, he confessed his mom made him audition and threatened to take away his phone if didn’t try out. He also mentioned, fighting off his nerves was the biggest obstacle during his time on Idol (ummm duh, that was kinda obvious). Prior to performing in front of America and on the Idol stage, he had only sung in a couple of coffee houses.
After his quick interview, Ellen asked her favorite green, ripened, brown “banana” to perform Mario’s “Let Me Love You“. Apparently, he had initially wanted to perform this song instead of Ray Lamontagne’s “Trouble” during the Top 16 performances. So why did he change his mind? An Idol producer had suggested to him that he would probably get more votes if he sang “Trouble”. Ouch, that’s gotta hurt. Thanks producers. Regardless of the outcome, I would’ve rather watch him perform Mario’s song instead of “Trouble”. Watch the video for yourself.
Imagine if he stuck to his original song choice. Would’ve it made a difference in the Top 16 eliminations? Will Alex forever wonder “What if” for the next few years? Was the move part of an Idol conspiracy to eliminate Lambert before the Top 12? Hmmm. I guess we’ll never know.

If he’d listen to his gut and sung this song, I’m sure he’d still be on the show. He’ll be back with some confidence…give him about 5 more years to get it together.

WOW, after all the drama in the past week, now we learn of THIS?? You’ve got to be kidding me. An American Idol PRODUCER advising Alex Lambert to sing a song (Trouble) he apparently didn’t want to sing??!!! Frankly, I’m not surprised because there was something about his appearance on The Ellen Show that made me think there was more he wanted to tell America. (I could tell how he excitedly says “I love that song” right before he leaves Ellen’s chair to go perform on the stage.) I can definitely see how this contributed to him LOSING VOTES, not to mention all the votes that went to Tim Urban & Paige Miles due to evil websites like votefortheworst.com, whose sole goal is to sabotage the show. Let’s not forget they are also sabotaging people’s LIVES here. The fact that a producer swayed his song choice decision and it ultimately contributed to his elimination is just plain wrong. Clearly, the Mario “Let me love you” song was more popular with his teen demographic and would have helped him get more votes. Just check YouTube, Twitter, etc. and you’ll see all the comments and 5-star ratings for his version of the Mario song. It’s received more positive feedback and buzz than the Trouble song, that’s for SURE. I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it: ALEX LAMBERT SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE HOME. The voting system is completely flawed. Really, American Idol & FOX?? Is this how you wanted to go out? You could have gone out on the top, but instead, as of this moment, you are choosing to go out on the bottom. The ball is in your court to do something now. Why do you continue to ignore the petition, blogs, Twitter and all other social media outlets? You are damaging your own brand by ignoring this. It’s ultimately YOUR loss because now Alex has built up such a huge fan base that he’ll likely be fine in the long run. We’d all really love for him to come back on Idol. Us loyal (7 yrs for me) fans love (or loved) American Idol and it’d be a WIN-WIN situation. I did not watch AI this week. It was tough canceling the series recording on my DVR, but I did it for a young man with a voice of GOLD: Alex Lambert.

I’m still so sad Alex was voted off – and now I read that the reason he sang his “second choice” song last week was because a producer recommended it. With such conflicting criticism and “advice” from the judges this year, which is many times about the song choice, how could a producer even make a suggestion on song choice? Especially to sway Alex from a song that would have been WILDLY popular with the voting population? How can American Idol be falling apart so quickly this year? I’ve been a fan from the beginning, but this year is killing it for me – Alex leaving, so many weak contestants left, judges acting weird (except Ellen – I love her!). I’m hoping AI is considering doing something with the suggestion to bring Alex back, as I’ve been reading so much about since last week. I hope AI is savvy enough to know they MUST do something like that to try and reel in those fans they’ve been losing this year. BRING ALEX BACK!!

So now that we learned the producer swayed Alex to sing a song that was not in his heart, are we really surprised at all? This alone should make them bring back Alex as a wildcard and see what happens when he actually sings age appropriate music versus something too old and sad that no one wants to hear! I bet the person who told him this wouldn’t even vote cause they’re not the correct ‘demographic’ anyway, so why did they think they should tell him to do that?! I have watched Idol since day one, always a huge fan and I go see them on tour but I’m too sick to even watch it anymore, the only real talent was Alex and they cut him with no regrets, disgusting! He has the most unique and amazing voice and I don’t see how they could have let him go, look who’s left?! I was hoping to go see him on tour this year but I guess I won’t be going along with a lot of other people who are disappointed in this year’s contestants, I bet this is the last year for Idol and it’s falling ratings :( PS Ryan, stop being so angry all the time, are you mad cause there is no talent left? I would be too, it’s like you have to lie to everyone cause it’s all a sham :( Bring back Alex and let it happen the way it’s supposed to this time!
