So You Think You Can Assault: Former SYTYCD Choreographer Arrested For Rape

Note to self: Always trust your initial gut feelings about people as you’re rarely wrong. From the first moment I saw Alexa Da Silva on So You Think You Can Dance Season 1 he gave me the ebby jeebies. The way he would talk to the young female contestants and treat his female assistants was downright creepy. Seriously, during all those background performance segments shown all types of red flags were being raised in my eyes.

Early Tuesday (August 18th) morning, the LAPD arrested Mr. Da Silva for allegedly sexually harassing four women. In fact, he was charged with multiple counts- eight crimes in total. Four counts of forcible rape, two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object. The alleged crimes occurred between August 2002 and March 2009. All the women pressing charges are said to be between the ages of 20 to 26 and were dancers Alex had met through his instructional dance classes.

This isn’t the first time the former SYTYCD choreographer has been arrested. Back in April 2009, the LAPD arrested him but was released soon after by prosecutors who declined to press charges as further investigation was needed. Looks like the prosecutor’s investigations have been fruitful as they have press charges this time around. I bet their case is solid as a rock or else they wouldn’t have Da Silva arrested again.

I know that it isn’t always right to judge a book by it’s cover but the moment he came on my screen I had extremely strong feelings that this guy was a lecherous perv. I just hope if he is guilty that he receives the sentence he deserves and that women affected by his acts get their day in court.

Haha when I read the title I totally thought it would be Dan. There’s not a single time he’s on the panel where he doesn’t mention something about a girl’s costume or how lucky her partner is to be dancing with her. Such a perv!

It’s about time an intelligent District Attorney was put on this case.  Former lacking DAs is the reason for the case being dragged on for so long.  Alex is a criminal and deserves everything that is to come – life in prison.  Rapists don’t show their dark side to the public.  Their own families don’t even know it!  May justice be served and remember, the devil comes in many disguises.

I knew Alex personally when he got his start right here in San Francisco. I was very surprised to hear of these allegations. He has incredible talent and because of the type of dance that he does which is very sexy…women flock to him. He was always appropriate with me…not creepy, but maybe a bit aloof at times. I don’t know what the truth is here but there are always two sides to every story. I hope for his sake that these charges are not true.
