Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Out For Vengeance In ‘Aftermath’

At first glance, this just looks like a throwback to all those Arnold Schwarzenegger vigilante movies from the 80s. It features the Governor out to avenge his family’s death, however, this film is inspired by actual events.

Aftermath is based on the 2002 real-life Überlingen mid-air collision, and the subsequent murder of Swiss air traffic controller Peter Nielsen by Russian architect Vitaly Kaloyev. The grieving family man held Nielsen responsible for the deaths of his wife and two children in the disaster.

The film stars Scoot McNairy as the air traffic controller whose error causes the death of a construction foreman’s (Schwarzenegger) wife and daughter. Frustrated with the legal system, Schwarzenegger takes the law into his own hands. He goes on the hunt for McNairy who’s now in protective custody. Maggie Grace also stars.

Aftermath hits theaters April 7. Check out the trailer below.
