Adele certainly has the Midas Touch these days. Instead of everything turning to gold, however, records are breaking left, center and right.
The “Hello” singer’s spin with James Corden for his “Carpool Karaoke” segment set a benchmark. According to CBS, the viral clip set a new YouTube record for the most-watched late-night clip ever. As of publish time, it’s racked over 65. million views. Clearly, people loved watching Adele rap to Nicki Minaj’s “Monster.”
“There’s an ease and an intimacy to it where you’d never ever see stars quite so unguarded,” Corden said. “l’m different from when I’m doing the show when there’s an audience of 200. Seeing a huge megastar sing their hits in the same environment that you and I sing on our way to work — it’s humanizing.”
I wonder if CBS network execs are second guessing giving Corden The Late Late Show gig and not The Late Show desk instead. Sorry Stephen Colbert 😉 If you haven’t checked out the “Carpool Karaoke” segment yet, watch it below.
