Adam Levine is certainly taking his mentoring role on “The Voice” very seriously. He mentored Javier Colon to win “The Voice’s” first season and now he’s looking to develop them in real life and not just on reality television. The Maroon 5 frontman just launched his own record label where he’ll sign, nurture and develop recording stars. 222 Records has always been a dream of his.

“Starting my own label has been a long-time goal of mine, and I am thrilled to be at the point in my career where it is finally happening,” - Adam Levine

So, who gets the honor of being the first act on his newly-formed label? Here’s a hint, it’s someone from “Glee“. I have to admit, I’m a little surprised that Levine is choosing to team up with someone from the Fox show. Before popping up on “The Voice“, I sensed that Levine was a bit of a music snob and would’ve shunned someone like this “Glee” star. But what do I know? Continue reading below to see who the “Moves Like Jagger” singer chose as his first pet project.

It’s none other than Mr. Schuester himself, Matthew Morrison. The 33-year-old released his debut album in 2011 and spawned a moderate adult contemporary hit, “Summer Rain“. That single peaked at No. 16 on Billboard’s AC chart. Here’s what the actor said about his collaboration with Levine.

“I am excited to be working on my next album with such an incredible singer, writer and producer as Adam Levine. Adam and I share the same vision as we begin working on my record together.” – Matthew Morrison

For his part, Levine is equally as excited to be working with Morrison. He stated, “I am excited for everyone to hear Matthew’s forthcoming album. Great things are in store for him with this release.” I wonder if Matthew’s sophomore release will feature high-wattage duets like his first album. Both Sting and Elton John performed duets with Matthew on his self-titled album.

What do you think of Levine’s new venture and signing Matthew Morrison? Will Mr. Schue’s sophomore album become a breakout hit? Do you think Levine will scoop up discarded Voice contestants for his new label? Sound off below.
