Adam Lambert has always felt, for me, like he belongs in a different time. Just look at seamlessly he fits in as the lead singer for Queen. Wisely, the 37-year-old singer goes retro for his latest era.
Adam Lambert hasn’t released a full-length album since The Original High back in 2015. Earlier this year in February, the 37-year-old singer shared “Feel Something.” He made it clear that it wasn’t the lead single, but rather an “emotional starting point” of his new LP. We finally have the official first single and it’s great.
“New Eyes,” written alongside Paris Carney and Jamie Sierota, is the lead single for his forthcoming new album titled Velvet. He previously revealed that 70s glam and classic rock served as inspiration for his new sound.
“I wanted my first single to reflect my current state of mind and to bring listeners into a romantic, earthy vibe,” Adam said in a statement. “‘New Eyes‘ is a love letter to innocence and to finding new passions.”
Lambert is set to perform the track this Sunday, May 19 on the season finale of American Idol. Check out the music video below, directed by Miles & AJ. The psychedelic clip is the first part of a multi-part visual to support his album. Part 2 will be arriving soon.
