Ariana Grande Slays ‘The Wizard And I’ & Other Highlights From ‘A Very Wicked Halloween’

When NBC announced A Very Wicked Halloween to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Wicked on Broadway, I honestly wasn’t expecting much. Maybe it was my lowered expectations but I thoroughly enjoyed the hour-long special. It was the gayest tribute ever and I loved every second of it.

Tony Award winners Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth reunited to host the special and perform iconic numbers from the musical. Menzel once again soared on “Defying Gravity” while Chenoweth was beyond charming on “Popular.” To cap off the evening, the two ladies were joined by every actress to play Elphaba and Glinda on Broadway to perform “For Good.” The last number seriously gave me goosebumps. I’ve already seen Wicked three times (London, NYC and touring production) but need to see it again after watching this special.

Besides the grand finale, the number that stood out the most was Ariana Grande tackling “The Wizard And I.” To say girlfriend slayed it would be an understatement. Loved, loved, loved it. Check out Ari’s performance below, along with Kristin and Idina’s numbers and covers by Pentatonix, Adam Lambert and Ledisi.

I have to say I’m super annoyed Lea Michele wasn’t apart of this.

  • Oh yeah, she would’ve been great as well.
