Miss shirtless buff soldiers beating each other to a bloody death in slow motion since Spartacus signed off forever? You’re in luck. Zack Synder is finally releasing a sequel to his 2006 hit 300. Unfortunately, the following trailer will have to tide you over until 300: Rise of an Empire hits theaters in March 2014. The cruelty of it all.
Rodrigo Santoro helms the sequel based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes. This new chapter takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea— as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. 300: Rise of an Empire pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Santoro), and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy. Check out the first trailer below.
Excited for the 300 sequel? Do you think Rodrigo Santoro is a worthy successor to Gerard Butler? And how sexy does Sullivan Stapleton look in the trailer. WOOF. Definite future Man Crush post for sure. Sound off below.
