30 Rock was never a ratings juggernaut, but it was always a critical darling and an awards powerhouse from its debut. Perhaps that’s why NBC kept the struggling series on the air for seven seasons. The fact it was a favorite amongst households with an income above $100,000 probably didn’t hurt either. Eventually though, all things have to come to an end. 30 Rock aired its final episode this past week to its best ratings since March 2012.
Given that without Tina Fey, 30 Rock never would’ve existed, it’s only natural that the cast and crew owe her a bit of gratitude. After all, they did receive a steady stream of income for seven years. Members of the cast including Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski give their heartfelt thanks while trying to hold back their tears to their boss. Even Tina Fey’s stand-in says a few words in the clip. Jay McBrayer starts things off with the following:
“The person at the top sets the tone,” said Jay Mcbrayer (Kenneth). “And, so if you have somebody who’s just very talented, very happy to let other talented people do their job, good at delegating, that’s all going to trickle down … I think we’ve all been very lucky that the person at the top knows what she’s doing, knows what she wants, and makes it happen.”
