When it comes to Golden Globes nomination day, the actors and directors get all the attention. There’s so much going on that the nominees for Best Original Song seem to get lost in the shuffle. Well, I’m here to rectify that since this year’s crop certainly deserves the spotlight.
Not surprisingly, “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper snagged a nod. I was expecting for Gaga to secure one for “I’ll Never Love Again” as well. Guess the Hollywood Foreign Press Association wanted to spread the wealth.
Don’t expect the A Star Is Born ballad to easily walk away with the award. Kendrick Lamar and SZA will put up a fight with their smash hit “All The Stars” from Black Panther. I wouldn’t be shocked if the HFPA awarded them. After all, the organization nominated Black Panther for Best Movie – Drama, becoming the first superhero film to achieve that honor.
Rounding out the rest of the Original Song nominations are Troye Sivan & Jónsi with their powerful ballad “Revelation” for the gay conversion therapy drama Boy Erased, along with Annie Lennox and Dolly Parton’s contributions for A Private War and Dumplin’ respectively.
Check out all five nominees below and cast your vote on who you think will win on January 6, 2019.
