Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Selena Gomez and now you can add Ariana Grande to that list. Billboard has named the 25-year-old singer as its 2018 Woman Of The Year. She’ll be presented with the award at the 13th annual Woman In Music gala in New York on December 6.
“Ariana Grande is a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry,” says Ross Scarano, Billboard’s vp of content. “Certain in her convictions, she consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn’t hospitable to that sort of strength in young women. She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year.”
To her credit, Grande has three No. 1 albums, ten Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits and 6+ billion streams in the US. In addition, she’s an activist advocating for gender equality, LGBTQ and human rights, gun control laws, mental awareness and more. She also raised $23 million to help victims of the tragic Manchester Arena bombing outside her concert.
Congratulations to Ari for this accomplishment.
