2017 Television Critics Association Awards: Women Dominate Nominations

The nominees for the 33rd annual Television Critics Association Awards were announced on Monday and the ladies dominated. Unlike most awards shows, the acting categories aren’t divided by genders. Instead, it’s a free-for-all in one category, only separated by comedy and drama.

In the Individual Achievement In Drama field, the lone male representative is Sterling K. Brown for This Is Us. He’s competing against some formidable foes including Nicole Kidman, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, Claire Foy and Elisabeth Moss. Also included in that category is Carrie Coon who earns a spot her for amazing turns in The Leftovers and Fargo.

HBO and FX lead the pack with 12 and 11 nods respectively with Netflix closely behind with 10. Hulu earns its first ever TCA nomination thanks to The Handsmaid’s Tale. With regards to individual noms, the dystopian drama along with FX’s Atlanta and NBC’s This Is Us garnered the most with four.

Winners of the 33rd Annual TCA Awards will be announced on August 5 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Kristin Chenoweth will host the event. Check out the full nominations list below.
