2017 New York Film Critics Circle: Timothée Chalamet & Queer Film ‘BPM’ Walk Away With Wins

We’re still in the early stages of awards season, but it’s becoming evidently clear that Lady Bird and Call Me By Your Name are serious contenders to secure nominations for the 90th Academy Awards. Both films continued their winning streaks with the New York Film Critics Circle.

Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut, Lady Bird, snatched Best Film honors and Best Actress for its leading lady, Saoirse Ronan. Meanwhile, Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor for his stunning work in Call Me By Your Name. In rather a surprising move, Tiffany Haddish snagged Best Supporting Actress for her hilarious turn in Girls Trip.

BPM (Beats Per Minute) failed to secure a nod with the National Board of Review, but the French film walked away with a Best Foreign Language Film win from the NYFCC.
