Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Pink, Katy Perry, Fergie, Beyoncé and Madonna. Selena Gomez now joins that illustrious list of women. The 25-year-old singer has been chosen by Billboard Magazine as their Woman Of The Year in 2017. She’ll be presented with the award at the annual Women in Music dinner and awards gala, held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles on November 30.
“Not only is Selena soaring on the charts, but she continuously inspires young women everywhere to be authentic, give back and to not be afraid to use their voice,” said John Amato, president of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group. “She is never afraid to speak her mind and has used her platform to advocate for the needs of others. We are thrilled to be able to honor her as our Woman of the Year.”
2017 has been quite a year for Selena. She released the singles, “It Ain’t Me” with Kygo, “Fetish” featuring Gucci Mane, “Bad Liar” and her latest “Wolves” with Marshmello. She produced the hit Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why and currently filming a Woody Allen film. Gomez also launched partnerships with Coach and Puma.
On the personal front, she had a whirlwind romance with The Weeknd which just ended recently after being spotted hanging out with her ex Justin Bieber. Not to mention, undergoing a life-saving kidney transplant to treat her lupus.
