Victoria’s Secret 2013 Fashion Show: My 15 Favorite Outfits

The most glamorous fashion show of the year aired last night on CBS. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of my favorite events of the year. There’s something about watching barely-clothed glamazon women strutting their stuff on the glittered runway that I find truly fascinating. I’m not alone.

Typically I have people over, but due to a prior commitment, I couldn’t host a gathering. The yearly telecast consistently does well in the ratings with the 2011 edition reaching heavenly heights. No wonder the reported budget for this year’s show ballooned to $12 million. Definitely a hefty hike from the first show back in 1995 which cost $120,000 to produce. Was the money worth it?

IMHO, the past several years haven’t matched the glorious days when Giselle Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum and Karolina Kurkova walked the catwalk. Nowadays it’s all about bringing in the musical talent as opposite to simply watching the girls sashay to wicked mashups. Taylor Swift already has the CMAs, AMAs, Grammys, VMAs and so on. Does she really need to invade the lingerie show in some Union Jack getup. I think not. Even worse, the show’s signature slow-motion shots of the models flipping their hair were MIA.

As pretty as the show was this year, the outfits and more importantly, the wings weren’t breathtaking. Not to say there weren’t a few standouts, but I had a hard time picking my Top 15.

My favorite segment of the bunch was “Birds of Paradise.” I could’ve easily filled my list with all those girls, but decided to spread the wealth a bit among all the segments. Though not part of that segment, my favorite set of wings of the night adorned Lily Aldridge during the “British Invasion” portion. I’m a sucker for plaid.

My least favorite was the last one titled “Snow Angels.” Some of the feathered wings were stunning but with the snowy white motif, it was hard to differentiate among them all. As a result, I only chose one. Funny enough, it was the head-to-toe one piece worn by Karlie Kloss. Check out my picks below.

2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Worst Outfit

As always, the Pink segment was not my cup of tea. A couple were cute but for the most part, the outfits were gaudy. This one below with emoticons acting as wings was by far the worst offender.

Sara Sampaio

Segment: Pink Network

2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Fantasy Bra

Candice Swanepoel

This year, the South African beauty had the honor of not only kicking off the show but also wearing the million dollar fantasy bra. DANG GIRL!!! Those legs are KILLER. If you want to check out previous years, click here.

i agree with the comment about the pink segment…i was so over it within a second. my fav outfit was with karlie… ….i don’t so much think it was the outfit itself…it’s how karlie worked it…she rocked it…for me adriana lima and erin heatherton are my fav models but karlie during the preshow and during the actual fashion show stole the show. i still however miss when the angels included giselle, heidi, and tyra (and naomi campbell, though im not sure she was an actual angel). anyways, i always look forward to this fashion show–it’s sort of my superbowl…and i loved it…taylor swift was awesome and i liked the fall out boy performances….the dark haired dude always seemed to me to be the main lead singer but the guy who sang mainly last night was fuckin hawt and sang amazing. #timewellwasted

Wasn’t it a ten million dollar outfit? 8 million on the bra alone? I must have misheard her on ellen.
