The 85th Annual Academy Awards took place on Sunday and were hosted by funny man, Seth MacFarlane. I enjoyed his opening monologue, first making fun of himself, Ben Affleck, Mel Gibson, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Brown and Rihanna, and more. Captain Kirk (William Shatner) then came onto the big screen and critiqued MacFarlane’s performance thus far. As a sidenote, I think Amy Poehler and Tina Fey did it better on the Golden Globes:)
Macfarlane performed a musical number called “We Saw Your Boobs,” a sock-puppet version of the movie Flight, and the sexy Charlize Theron and Channing Tatum took to the stage for dance. Daniel Radcliffe and Joseph Gordon-Levitt joined in the fun with a song, and MacFarlane hit on Sally Field backstage.
Some of the other highlights include Adele singing “Skyfall,” the Oscars Musical Tribute featuring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jennifer Hudson, and the Les Miserable cast, Shirley Bassey singing “Goldfinger,” and Barbra Streisand singing “Memories”. Watch these performances below.

Poor Adele – almost a perfect rendition but at the end she went flat on the two last important notes.

Two of the best performances were Norah Jones and Jennifer Hudson(no one topped her). Adele was lackluster, you know it is bad when the music playing in the background is louder than the singers voice.

1. Seth sucked. I love crass, but too much.
2. i think Adele suffered from bad sound, her mic went up and down.
3. The Chicago producers sucking their own dicks by honoring the movie after 10 years. WTF was up with that shit? I thought they were honoring the return of musicals, but instead just a nod to themselves. What horse shit!
4. No Andy Griffith in the Memoriam. BAD BAD BAD!
5. Overall just too musical i guess that was the theme but it made it SOOO long.
6. K-Stew scratching her fucking rat nest hair, saying her lines with no enthusiasm like she couldn’t be bothered. Why have her then? Seriously.
7. Honoring of James Bond should have been done better. LOVED Shirley Bassey, but it should have been a montage. Start with Bassey then Carly Simon’s nobody does it better and then lead into Adele’s Skyfall.
8. Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence, really?
9. OK ok, Seth overall sucked but he had some good jokes.
10. I regret getting bored and missing most of Norah Jones’s performance.

i liked the idea of having a theme it was a nice and liked all the music that got included. adele sounded great when her mic was turned up and jennifer hudson sounded great. i felt bad for ang lee since this is the second time he won best director and the movie he directed loses best picture. jennifer lawrence was cute about falling.
it still suprises me how sexist the academy is seeing how only 7 women won oscars while 28 men won oscars and these are all from the categories that allow both sexes to compete. 9 women and 30 men won oscars if you include the acting categories. hopefully one say it wont be so lopsided.
overall good show but tina fey and amy phoeler were better at the golden globes. i loved kristen chenowith coming in at the end though that was a-ma-zing.

Adele did not go flat fix your hearing aid. Shirley was amazing. At her age it was inspirational.

Alcohol and friends were definitely necessary to watch the Oscars. The only part I came close to hating was the fact that along with Andy Griffith, neither Phyllis Diller or Larry Hagman were featured during the memoriam segment. However all three of them had a prolific career, so it is cool that lesser known names got some posthumous spotlight. I enjoyed that Tommy Lee Jones was playing it safe and smiling constantly this time around. =P

they probably will be part of the in memoriam ceremony next year. that happened with i think whitney houston she was put in the following year’s memoriam not at the grammys but i think at the emmys maybe. i dont remember maybe that didnt happen but i remember, i think it was farah fawcett she wasnt put in the memoriam segment but got put in the next year. i dont know maybe im just making it up, they should be in the memoriam section if not at the oscars then definitely the emmys since they had a more prolific tv career.
