Tonight, MTV celebrated another great year in movies for the masses with the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. After a star-studded red carpet and pre-show, the festivities kicked off with an electric performance from FUN. rocking out their hit, “We Are Young.” In a surprise twist, Janelle Monae joined the band on stage.
Playing host for the evening was Katy Perry’s recent ex, Russell Brand and I have to say, he nailed it. From his hilarious banter and wit to sometimes incomprehensible accent, it was a joy to watch him on stage between performances and presentations.
Other performances for the night included Wiz Khalifa and The Black Keys who were joined on stage by the evening’s Generation Award winner, Johnny Depp. This year, MTV presented their first ever Trailblazer Award which was handed to Emma Stone after a hilarious video tribute from Jim Carrey, Ana Farris, Steve Carrell and Jason Sudeikis. With no surprise to anyone at all, “The Hunger Games” was a big winner of the night. But, were they big enough to win Best Movie? Find out below.
