Last year, the two biggest male tennis players in the world kicked off the 2010 ATP Season by playing in an unforgettable exhibition match on a magic carpet. Yup, that’s right. A magic carpet. So, how do the ATP organizers top that? Easy. Have Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer play tennis like Jesus would back in the day. Check the amazing pics from the 2011 kickoff event.

In another unusual tennis experience, the No. 2 ranked players in the world played on a specially built water court in Doha Bay. They arrived to the unique surface via a boat and rallied a few times before posing for a few press pictures. The two were in Doha, Qatar to participate in the ExxonMobil Open, the first ATP tournament of the 2011 season. Nadal and Federer are clearly at the top of the tennis world. Cumulatively, they have won 21 out of the past 23 grand slams.

His feet must’ve been soaking wet after this brief rally.

How beautifully scenic is this shot?

The should’ve gone all out and worn some sexy bathing suits for this exhibition. That would’ve amped up the sex factor.

If one of these guys runs the other guy off the court, I wonder if any lifeguards are on hand to pull them out of Doha Bay.

Splish, splash. Just having a bash.

I wonder what the organizers will think of next for 2012’s kickoff. Hopefully they’ll keep this tradition up, as I think it’s a great way to start the new ATP season.
