The 2011 Golden Globes are in the history books, but the race for red carpet supremacy is still on. “the social network” was the clear winner of the night when it came to Hollywood Foreign Press hardware, but when it came to fashion, the race was a bit tighter. At this year’s ceremony, I found there were more fashion missteps than winners. Thankfully there were two handfuls of women with great fashion sense SLASH stylists. The following ladies all chose great dresses and accessories that had me reaching to click the “like” button.
While a few of my choices are in line with other publications’ best dressed lists, a few of my selections are a bit different. Fashion and beauty are very subjective, but I think I made some solid choices. Check out my Top Ten Best Dressed list and see if you agree with them. Don’t forget to cast your vote at the end of the post.
10 BEST LOOKS AT THE 2011 GOLDEN GLOBES
What she wore: Embroidered Marchesa gown with studded gold Christian Louboutin booties and Tiffany & Co. jewels.
Some may think the bottom is too billowy and poofy, but I love it. Olivia looks like her very own gorgeous constellation. If you hang her up and twirl her around, she can act as a make-shift disco ball. Groovy.
What she wore: Red Vera Wang gown with David Webb jewelry.
The “Modern Family” star never fails to impress on the red carpet. Sofia definitely loves the mermaid fishtail bottom. The way the flash hits this dress isn’t the most flattering, but it looked absolutely breathtaking live on television.
What she wore: Emerald draped Vera Wang gown, Judith Leiber clutch, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Mila may be the supporting actress in “Black Swan”, but she’s all leading lady in this beautifully draped one-shoulder gown. She looks like a modern-day Grecian goddess.
What she wore: Long-sleeved Burberry Prorsum gown with Jimmy Choo shoes and Louis Vuitton clutch.
While Meester’s dress wasn’t an outright winner on most fashion roundups, it was one of my favorites of the night. It was elegant, without being flashy. Demure yet sexy. Classic yet fashion forward. Leighton was on-trend with sporting a long-sleeve gown. J’adore beaucoup.
What she wore: Black plunging Zac Posen fishtail dress with Neil Lane diamonds and Sergio Rossi clutch.
Looking hot is the best revenge, isn’t it? The “Desperate Housewives” star proves being a divorcee isn’t going to bring her down. Surprisingly she was one of the few actresses to wear black at this year’s ceremony. This certainly isn’t your typical black dress. Absolutely stunning.
What she wore: Shimmering amber Armani Prive gown with Swarovski crystals with Brian Atwood shoes, Van Cleef & Arpels vintage jewels and Roger Vivier clutch.
Staying true to her fashionista reputation, Anne was another fashion-forward diva who opted to wear a long-sleeved dress. Not many can pull off this dress with such ease and confidence, but she certainly does. It’s hard not to shine in this Swarovski embellished gown.
What she wore: Orange Emilio Pucci dress with Ofira jewelry, Casadei sandals and a VBH clutch.
Kyra didn’t make it on many best dressed lists, and I don’t know why. Orange isn’t a color many women can pull off, but “The Closer” star not only pulls it off, but looks effervescent in this flowy ruffled v-neck dress. Case closed, this is a fashion winner.
What she wore: Open back peach Calvin Klein dress with Ferragamo shoes, Van Cleef & Arpels jewels.
To be perfectly honest, when I first saw this outfit, I hated it. Though I appreciate the minimalist simplicity of the dress, I thought the color washed her out. But after seeing Emma work it out on the telecast and on the red carpet, I came around. PS. Who knew she would look as stunning in her natural blond hair color as she would in red?
What she wore: Rebecca Taylor blue dress.
Lea Michele and Diana Argon get all the headlines, but I thought Jenna was at the head of the class in the fashion department. This layered ruffled gown is simply stunning. On her part Lea Michele did look great too, but I’m tired of seeing her wear the same one-shouldered ruffled dress with a long train. Mix it up Lea.
What she wore: Pale pink Armani Prive gown embellished with Swarovski crystals, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Brian Atwood shoes and Roger Vivier clutch.
Disregard Megan’s unflattering pouty face, and focus on the gown. How stunning is it? The way the top is woven with intermixed Swarovski embellished strips is so beautiful. It’s girly, sophisticated and unique all in one pretty pink package.
