If you watch the Emmys to see who walks away with the statue, then check out Tyrell’s post to check out all the winners. But if you’re like me and think seeing what the ladies are wearing on the red carpet is equally as important, then you’re in the right place. Being the official kick-off to the new Fall television season, you know publicists had to be working overtime to ensure their clients dazzled on the red carpet. While some fizzled, a surprisingly high amount sparkled brightly. I narrowed down those well-put together actresses and compiled my Top 10 favorites. Check out my list and see if you agree.
The SNL funny lady isn’t typically the person that pops to mind when you think of sexy red carpet style, but you might want to rethink that after seeing her in this plunging Zac Posen dress. I’m a big fan of stars wearing brown on the red carpet and this is exactly why. The ombre effect on the fabric is shimmery flawlessness.
I was on the fence on whether to put “The Vampire Diaries” star on the list. From the knees up, this Donna Karan is superbly made. It’s hugs Nina Dobrev in all the right places. The bottom detailing looks a little messy but I’m sure it looked better in person. The top half is so beautiful that I had to push aside my uncertainty regarding the borderline tragic mess on the bottom. PS. The Neil Lane necklace is the perfect accessory. Papa like.
If you’re going to do red on the red carpet this is how you do it. She lost out to her “Modern Family” co-star for the Best Supporting Actress Emmy, but she slam dunked her when it came to couture. Vergara puts a couple extra Va’s in this Va Va Voom Vera Wang gown.
“The Dexter” actress left me speechless when I saw her in this Georges Hobeika Couture gown. I love the scallop bust detailing of this gray satin gown. The gathering of the fabric looks so effortless yet meticulous. Impeccable craftsmanship here.
Looks like her time as commentator on E! Online’s “Fashion Police” is rubbing off in a good way on Kelly Osbourne. In between reporting for E!, she took time out to show off his full length crimson J. Mendel gown. I would do too if it looked this stunning on me. This former fashion don’t is consistently a do now. Bravo on the transformation.
The “Friday Night Lights” may have not walked away with the big award, but landed an even more prestigious honor- my Top 10 list. This dramatic gauzy dark red dress definitely scored a touchdown on the Emmy red carpet field. The bow detailing is subtle yet a standout at the same time.
Proving that you can still wow on the red carpet after 50, “The Good Wife” star shows she’s still got it at 59-years-old. The choice to pick this short-sleeve navy blue Zac Posen dress was perfect. No shimmer, embellishment or over-the-top design was needed. Just a masterfully cut classic gown. It was sexy while being age appropriate.
On the flip side of Baranski’s simple dress is this plunging Elie Saab gown. The “Devil Wears Prada” star didn’t pick Prada but rather opted for a Saab design form his Fall 2011 couture collection. The midnight blue full length tulle gown sparkled with sequins and ruffle detailing. I have no idea why Blunt was there, but I applaud her fashion sensibility.
As I was clicking through pictures, I had to do a double-take of Aubrey Plaza. I almost didn’t recognize her. On “Parks and Recreation”, she’s the opposite of sophisticated glamor. Whoever chose this Juan Carlos Obando was genius? It’s absolutely gorgeous in its simplicity. Normally this would sound like a bad thing, but it could work as a modern wedding dress. Who knew Aubrey was such a fashionista?
Some early reviews for Minka Kelly’s choice are ho-hum at best. While I agree the lace layered gown could be a tad conservative, I like the fact it shows off a more demure side to the actress. Considering she’ll most likely be parading in little or very tight clothing when “Charlie’s Angels” debuts, choosing this Dior gown shows Minka is more than just T&A.
Disagree with anyone on my list, I’d love to hear your thoughts? If you think someone is erroneously omitted from the list, I’d like to hear that as well. Post all your feedback below.
