Beyonce’s song “Run The World (Girls)” may have not been a huge hit, but it has proved prophetic… at least for this year’s American Music Awards. The 2011 AMAs air tonight on ABC and the females certainly are represented. They dominated in the big categories. Four out of the five nominees for the top award, “Artist of the Year“, were all women. For “Best Pop Album“, Gaga, Rihanna and Adele are duking it out without a man in sight.

British songbird Adele lead the field with four nominations. After the year she’s had, she definitely deserves the accolades. Right behind Adele with three nominations a piece were Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Rihanna and Taylor Swift. Scoring two nominations each were Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Kanye West, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and Pitbull. For the fifth year, winners were determined by online voting. Check out my predictions below and see if you agree. I wonder how many I’ll get right this year.

Artist of the Year

  • Adele
  • Lady Gaga
  • Katy Perry
  • Lil Wayne
  • Taylor Swift

Adele definitely made a splash this year, but Katy Perry definitely owned the top of the Billboard charts. Plus, she’s the only artist to tie Michael Jackson’s incredible achievement. Perry deserves this top award.

Pop/Rock Categories

Favorite Male Artist (Pop/Rock):

  • Justin Bieber
  • Bruno Mars
  • Pitbull

Bruno Mars all the way. His live set in Las Vegas was amazing. I fear Bieber and his legion of fans might rob Mars of a deserved win.

Favorite Female Artist (Pop/Rock):

  • Adele
  • Lady Gaga
  • Katy Perry

I love all these ladies but Perry deserves it after her phenomenal year.

Favorite Band, Duo or Group (Pop/Rock):

  • LMFAO
  • Maroon 5
  • OneRepublic

LMFAO’s party rocking ways will take them all the way to the podium. They had the song of the Summer that’s still playing in the Fall.

Favorite Album (Pop/Rock):

  • Adele, “21″
  • Lady Gaga, “Born This Way”
  • Rihanna, “Loud”

I’m thinking this category is Adele’s. I’ve practically worn out my digital copy (if that’s even possible). She’s the first artist in years to have a ballad hit No. 1 on the charts. Girl can do no wrong.

Country Categories

Favorite Album (Country):

  • Jason Aldean, “My Kinda Party”
  • The Band Perry, “The Band Perry”
  • Taylor Swift, “Speak Now”

Country is definitely my weakest category. I’m thinking Taylor has this in the bag.

Favorite Female Artist (Country)

  • Sara Evans
  • Miranda Lambert
  • Taylor Swift

If Swift was to lose a category, I think it’s this one. Expect Miranda Lambert to take this one.

Favorite Male Artist (Country)

  • Jason Aldean
  • Brad Paisley
  • Blake Shelton

Will Blake Shelton’s stint on “The Voice” score him the win here? Probably not, I’m thinking Jason Aldean is poised to win this category.

Country Music: Favorite Band, Duo or Group

  • Zac Brown Band
  • Lady Antebellum
  • The Band Perry

Lady Antebellum. Only because I haven’t heard any songs from the other two.

Soul/R&B Categories

Favorite Male Artist (Soul/R&B)

  • Chris Brown
  • Trey Songz
  • Usher

Chris Brown definitely had the better album, but I don’t think he’s fully recovered from his series of bad press. Usher FTW.

Favorite Female Artist (Soul/R&B)

  • Rihanna
  • Beyoncé
  • Kelly Rowland

As much as I love my girl Kelly, I think Rihanna’s name will be on this award.

Favorite Album (Soul/R&B)

  • Chris Brown, F.A.M.E.
  • Rihanna, Loud
  • Beyoncé, 4

Uh, oh. It’s Rihanna vs Chris Brown. Could they cancel each other out, leading to a Beyonce win? Nah, I think Rihanna is going to win.

Rap/Hip-Hop Categories

Favorite Artist (Rap/Hip-Hop)

  • Lil Wayne
  • Nicki Minaj
  • Kanye West

Nicki Minaj and her lyrical genius have this in the bag. Better start prepping that acceptance speech.

Favorite Album (Rap/Hip-Hop)

  • Lil Wayne, Tha Carter IV
  • The Throne, Watch the Throne
  • Nicki Minaj, Pink Friday

Once again, Nicki has everyone beat here.

Soul/R&B Categories

Favorite Artist (Alt Rock)

  • The Black Keys
  • Foo Fighters
  • Mumford & Sons

Ummm, random category. Are Foo Fighters still around? I’m going to guess and pick Mumford & Sons.

Favorite Artist (Adult Contemporary)

  • Adele
  • Bruno Mars
  • Katy Perry

Adele, Adele, Adele. And for those who didn’t hear me in the back… Adele.

Favorite Artist (Latin Music)

  • Pitbull
  • Enrique Iglesias
  • Jennifer Lopez

J. Lo and her Fiat entourage has this one. Truly the comeback of the year.

Sprint New Artist of the Year

Pop/Rock:

  • Foster the People
  • Hot Chelle Rae

Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” was awesome.

Country:

  • The Band Perry
  • The Thompson Square

No idea. I’ll go with The Band Perry.

Rap/Hip-Hop

  • LMFAO
  • Wiz Khalifa

They’re sexy and they know it. Watch for LMFAO and their unique wardrobe to take this.

Be sure to watch the American Music Awards when they air live from the Nokia Theatre tonight @ 8pm on ABC. I wonder how many of my predictions will come true. Who do you think will be the big winner of the night? Share all your predictions below.
