While most people watch the MTV Video Music Awards for out-of-this-world performances or insane WTF moments, there are plenty who tune in just to see what the celebrities are wearing. Especially whenever Lady Gaga is present, you know you’ll be in for a visual feast. It seemed whenever The Fame Monster took home an award, she was wearing another unforgettable outfit.
When she won the award for “Best Pop Video“, she wore a voluminous black Giorgio Armani dress. To accept “Best Video of The Year“, she wore a “meat dress” by designer Franc Fernandez. The meat was treated and cleaned and no blood was dripping. But more importantly, did it smell? For her grand entrance on the white carpet, Gaga wore Alexander McQueen head to toe to pay homage to her friend.
Now that you have all three looks side-by-side, which one did she rock the best? Personally, I thought she looked amazing in the McQueen ensemble. Vote below. Be sure to read the rest of this post to vote in other fashion battles from last night’s VMAs.
Battle of The Hills Girls
MTV doesn’t have these ladies on their payroll anymore now that The Hills is dunzo, but they still love to pimp them out. Throughout the series, the ladies barely ever agreed on anything, with exception to Speidi’s craziness. But now, they’re all on the same page with these shiny shimmering dresses. Audrina Patridge wore an Isaac Mizrahi silver dress, Stephanie Pratt sported a beaded nude Nicole Miller floor length gown, while Lo Bosworth went retro in an 80s-inspired Gabriela metallic one-shouldered dress. Once again, Audrina showed up these bitches and looked stunning. This is the second year in a row that she’s worn a silver dress to the awards shows.
Battle of The Jersey Guidettes
On the other side of the coast, the Jersey Shore girls went with the old adage, shorter is better. While the girls aren’t the classiest tasteful dressers around, I have to admit, cumulatively, they did better than some of their more recent concoctions. Sammi looked gorgeous in a lace number. Sporting new bangs, Snooks opted for a print which flattered her body type. And hell must’ve frozen over because, Jwoww didn’t look like her usual hoochie self. Thankfully she didn’t wear an outfit from her trashy Filthy Couture line.
Battle of the Songbirds
Believe it or not, the white carpet also consisted of people who could sing and not just reality TV fame whores. Ciara was breathtaking in a sheer and feather Givenchy stunner. Florence Welch from Florence + the Machine also opted for a dress from Givenchy. Hers was a gold lace elegant number. Hayley Williams (Paramore) chose high fashion as well, with her black Miu Miu mini dress with floral floral appliqués. In my books, Ciara stole the show with her outfit. I can only imagine how beautiful she looked in person.
Battle of the Leading Ladies
Some of Hollywood’s sexiest females strutted their stuff on the white carpet too. Emma Stone was rocker chic meets Tinseltown glam in a black Pucci leather sheath. The star definitely earns an “Easy A” for this fashion choice. Proving she still has it, Rosario Dawson turned up the heat in a leather dress as well. Loved the sleek ponytail and diamond crusted earrings. Is it me, or does Ashley Greene get hotter with each day? She was absolutely glamorous in Giambattista Valli. A strong contender for best dressed overall.
What Were They Thinking
I respect Ke$ha for trying to stay true to her trailer park image, but couldn’t she have commissioned a better Home Depot garbage bag dress than this atrocity. I’ve seen designers on Project Runway do a better job with Hefty Glad bags, than this trashy ensemble. I love Robyn and it pains me to say anything negative, but this body suit wasn’t flattering at all. She looked like she was a comic book, astronaut, submarine, Dharma initiative reject. Oh Katy Perry, I have no idea what you were going for with this Marchesa dress but I think you chose the fugliest design from Marchesa ever. Congrats on that.
